Welcoming Jenchieh Hung and Kulthida Songkittipakdee as Visiting Professors at Chung Hua University

Jenchieh Hung and Kulthida Songkittipakdee have joined Chung Hua University as visiting professors. They co-founded the acclaimed HAS Design and Research, an interdisciplinary architectural design practice based in Bangkok and Shanghai. Their design inquiries are rooted in the cultural, urban, and historical contexts of each project, spanning multiple design disciplines and a wide spectrum of scales. By employing design research as a critical tool to explore the specificities of each project, Hung And Songkittipakdee (HAS) engage architecture with an ethos based on the dynamic interaction of experience, detail, material, form, and light.

In addition to their design practice, Jenchieh Hung and Kulthida Songkittipakdee are passionate advocates for architectural education. They have lectured at various universities and professional forums, serving as visiting professors and design critics in architecture at prestigious institutions, including Tongji University - College of Architecture and Urban Planning, Chulalongkorn University - Faculty of Architecture, and King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi - School of Architecture and Design.

In 2023, Jenchieh Hung and Kulthida Songkittipakdee were appointed as the exhibition chairman and principal curator of The Association of Siamese Architects under Royal Patronage Thailand. They curated the Infinity Ground Architecture Exhibition at the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre (BACC) and the Collective Language - Asian Contemporary Architecture Exhibition for The Association of Siamese Architects under Royal Patronage Exposition 2024 (ASA Architect Expo) at the IMPACT Arena Exhibition and Convention Center. This event is one of Thailand's most important international architectural venues, showcasing materials, culture, design, and architectural exhibitions while advancing architectural education.

Jenchieh Hung and Kulthida Songkittipakdee's designs have garnered recognition from numerous prestigious international awards and honors across architecture, interior design, landscape architecture, and furniture design. Their accolades include the Architonic Top 10 Curated Projects that Consider Ecological Footprints from the United States (2024), the Thematic Pavilion of the Year Award at The Association of Siamese Architects under Royal Patronage Exposition - ASA Architect Expo from Thailand (2024), the INDE. Award from Australia (2023), the LIT Lighting Design Awards from Switzerland (2023), The Best Architects in Bangkok from Malaysia (2023), Habitus House of the Year from Australia (2023), Wallpaper Architects' Directory from the United Kingdom (2022), the Thailand Prestige Award (2021), The Projects Reshaping Chinese Architecture Today from Australia (2021), and the Designer of the Year Award (2019). These recognitions underscore their commitment to innovative and impactful design, solidifying their reputation as leaders in the field.

Jenchieh Hung and Kulthida Songkittipakdee have also made significant contributions to architectural criticism, publishing a series of essays on Thai architecture. They serve as guest editors of the Journal of the Architects Regional Council Asia (ARCASIA) and have published a special issue themed "Thailand Contemporary Architecture." Additionally, they recently released the firm's second monograph, Museum of Modern Aluminum - From MANufAcTURE to Architecture, with the renowned Thai publishing corporation 4d Limited.
